Toronto, ON- The Marauders have always been an athletic program that has peaks and valleys, and 2019-2020 was no different. Whilst some teams brought championships to Hamilton, other former champions like their 2019 National Champion Women’s Basketball team would fall early on their path to glory. Overall 2019-2020 was a successful year for the Marauder Atheltics Program
Kings of the GridIron
One cannot talk about McMaster without talking about the Marauder football program. In 2019 the Marauders, for the second straight year finished 6-2 on the season but this time the playoffs would be fruitful.
Offensively the Marauders were passed by Quarterback Andreas Dueck. The 3rd year threw for a career high 303.9 yards per game and 15 touchdowns.

Those results came in part thanks to Tyson Middlemost who led the way with four touchdown catches. A strong season that helped him to get drafted int he 4th round of the 2020 CFL Draft by the Calgary Stampeders.

Defensively the roster had some strong contributors with 5.6 tackles per game from linebacker Nate Edwards along with 4 interceptions from defensive back Noah Hallett.

Hallett joined Middlemost as a draftee being selected in the 2nd round of the 2020 CFL Draft, 18th overall to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
McMaster beat out Guelph in a tight semifinal before besting reigning champ Western in the Yates Cup final to take their first Yates Cup since 2014 and their 8th overall. McMaster would fall to Calgary in the Mitchell Bowl to miss a shot at the Vanier Cup but it was a strong championship season for the men from Hamilton.

Clinching the Curling Championship
With McMaster not having a hockey team, their on ice athletes include sports like curling and in 2019-2020 they had a very successful year. The men’s team would fall in the Quarterfinal of the championship but the Women’s Curling Team would push their undefeted record all the way to a Gold Medal match with defending champ Queen’s.

In that match McMaster would end up tied in the 5th end at three before taking three in the 6th end finally finishing with a 7-5 win and their first Women’s Curling title in 25 seasons. Their good fortune pushed them to a semifinal date against the Alberta Pandas but the Marauders run would end with an 8-4 loss. Still for the team of Madelyn Warriner, Kaeyln Gregory, Grace Lloyd, Madison Fisher and Danielle Hudson 2019-2020 wiill be a year they will not forget.
