Golf: Canada West Golf Championships Cancelled

Vancouver, BC- The only fall championship that was still scheduled has now been cancelled. The Canada West university sport conference has cancelled the 2020 Golf Championships which were scheduled for Oct. 2-4 in Kelowna, BC due to travel restrictions.

ViaSport BC, the governing body of sport in the province set out guidelines that did not allow for student-athletes to travel from across BC, Alberta and Manitoba. With the tournament scheduled in two weeks and these restrictions unlikely to ease, Canada West’s board of directors unanimously decided to cancel the event.

There has been no word on whether the 36-hole championship tournament will be re-awarded to Kelowna in 2021 or the future.
