Toronto, ON- There will be no RSEQ sanctioned university sport in Quebec until Dec. 31, 2020, as the sporting body becomes the fourth and final U SPORTS conference to cancel the 2020 fall seasons.
While the decision cancels competition in all sports, three will be allowed to move on with glorified-exhibition schedules. Soccer, Cross-Country and Golf have the flexibility to evolve at their own pace, giving the universities the power to make decisions outside of the RSEQ.
The rest of the nation cancelled fall university sports on June 8, as the OUA and AUS swiftly followed in the leadership of the Canada West conference. The RSEQ announced in early September their intentions for a season, which proved to be too complicated when looked at closer.
Despite not sanctioning games or tournaments in the traditional manner in Soccer, Cross-Country or Golf, the RSEQ will make sure that every public health measure and precaution is followed.
